Decorative finishes in Sydney.
Decorative FinishesPorter's French Wash, Porter's Lime Wash, Venetian Plaster, microcement and bespoke feature walls, applied by hand for interiors with real texture and depth.

Porter's French Wash & Lime Wash
Choose between two distinct interior systems: Porter’s French Wash is a rag-worked decorative layer over Low Sheen Acrylic, while Porter’s Interno Lime Wash is a brushed lime-based finish. Both create colour movement, but their appearance, preparation and maintenance requirements differ. Compare our dedicated service pages and actual Dural and Mona Vale projects before specifying a finish. Surface condition, room use and any requested sample are assessed for your own property.
See a completed French Wash feature wall in Merrylands
Our Merrylands living-room project changed a flat green wall into a layered teal and green Porter's French Wash finish behind the television.
The gallery follows patching and edge protection, the pale blue basecoat and the completed hand-worked effect. Before-and-after photographs, close views and a project video help you compare the finish in an actual room.
A different decorative option: Porter's Rust Effect in Kellyville
Our Kellyville project used Porter's Rust Effect to create a weathered steel appearance on a prepared feature surface. Compare the project with French Wash and Lime Wash before deciding on a colour direction and decorative effect. Each is a distinct finish, and your quote should identify the chosen system and the preparation required.
Venetian Plaster
A polished lime-based plaster finish, troweled by hand in thin layers to build depth and a subtle sheen.
Popular for feature walls, hallways and luxury bathrooms.
Microcement
A seamless, modern cement-look surface that can run across walls, floors and joinery without visible grout lines, suited to contemporary interiors and wet areas alike.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which decorative finish suits a feature wall best?
It depends on the look: French Wash and Lime Wash give a soft, textured feel, Venetian Plaster gives a polished sheen, and microcement gives a flat, seamless modern surface. We can talk through samples for your space.
Are decorative finishes more expensive than standard paint?
Yes, they take more skill and time to apply by hand, so they cost more than a standard paint finish, but they're usually applied to one or two feature areas rather than a whole home.
