Heritage Accommodation House Painting, Granville
This heritage accommodation property in Granville had rooms rented individually. Before the repaint, the interior had water damage, visible mould, signs of indoor smoking and peeling paint. Some walls were swollen and flaking, while drawings and other markings had been left on bedroom walls. The work covered bedrooms, hallways, staircases, ceilings, walls and timberwork.
Water had been entering around the windows and through the metal roof. The water-entry problems were addressed before we began preparing the surfaces for painting. The window perimeters were also sealed from both inside and outside.
The initial scraping alone took around two to three days. We removed loose and peeling paint from the affected walls, including the swollen and mould-affected areas. Visible mould was removed, and the damaged areas were patched to rebuild the surfaces before priming.
We applied two coats of Zinsser stain-blocking primer across the interior to help isolate the existing stains and wall markings before the finishing coats. The scraped and patched wall areas were primed, and all timberwork was also primed before repainting.
There was damage to some of the doors around the locks. The damaged locks were replaced, and the broken sections of the doors were repaired before the paint finish was applied.
After preparation and priming, the walls, ceilings and timberwork each received two finishing coats. Taubmans paint was used for the repaint. The finished rooms and shared areas are shown alongside preparation photographs in the project gallery.
