Period Decorative Ceiling and Wall Restoration in Lilyfield

Sky Painting & Decorating restored and repainted an old decorative ceiling, damaged rendered walls and timber woodwork at a heritage home in Lilyfield, Sydney. The work combined repairs to deteriorated wall sections with preparation and repainting around the room’s period features.

Some sections of the rendered walls had broken away or were damaged. We used White Set patching in the affected sections, then sanded the repaired surfaces and applied Dulux Sealer Binder before the finishing coats.

Mould-affected areas were cleaned using a mould-killing treatment. The affected ceiling and wall areas then received two coats of sealer as part of the preparation for repainting.

After the repairs, sanding and sealing, we applied two finish coats of ceiling paint and two finish coats of wall paint. The work refreshed the room while keeping the old decorative ceiling and its original character as part of the interior.

The timber woodwork also needed preparation. We repaired damaged areas, sanded the surfaces again and applied an undercoat. The woodwork was then finished with two or three coats of Dulux Aquanamel.

The before-and-after photographs show the room’s condition and the repainted ceiling, walls and timber details. This Lilyfield project shows how wall repairs, mould treatment, sealing and woodwork preparation formed part of the work before the final finish.
