Timber Deck Sanding and Oiling in Hornsby

Timber Restoration · Hornsby, Sydney

Sky Painting & Decorating completed this timber deck sanding and oiling project in Hornsby as part of an exterior painting project. Although the deck was new, it needed further preparation before the oil finish could be applied.

The overall project took approximately five to six months to complete. During that time, rain and regular site foot traffic left the deck dirty, with visible water marks and rain staining. By the time it was ready for finishing, the timber needed a full re-sand.

We sanded the entire deck again to address the marked surface, then thoroughly removed the sanding dust. This preparation was a key part of the job: the deck was newly built, but its condition after months of construction activity determined the work it needed before coating.

After the full sanding and dust removal, we applied the first coat of Cutek CD50 Timber Oil. We returned 24 hours later to apply the second coat. That was the application sequence used for this Hornsby project.

The finished deck had a refreshed, natural timber appearance, and the homeowner was very happy with the finish. The gallery shows the timber surface, preparation stage and completed oiled boards.
