Exterior PaintingSky Painting & Decorating provides exterior house painting across Sydney for render, brick, weatherboards, timber and exterior trim. We assess the existing surfaces, agree the preparation and repairs, and select the coating system for your home. Roof painting can be included as a separately assessed part of the quote.
Coating Systems Selected for the Surface
We select exterior coatings for the substrate, existing finish and exposure, with preparation agreed after inspection. Completed projects include Taubmans All Weather on weatherboards in Beecroft and Stanmore, Dulux Weathershield on the St Clair exterior, and Berger Solarscreen on the Granville repaint. Each project records its own products and scope; a wall coating is not automatically the right system for a roof or other surface.
Thorough Preparation
We assess the existing coating, clean the surfaces, remove loose paint and sand as needed before coating.
Repairs, priming and preparation for walls, eaves, fascia, gutters, downpipes and timber features are set out in the agreed quote.

Exterior Walls and Roofs: Two Different Coating Systems
Our Stanmore project combined exterior weatherboard painting with metal roof painting. The exterior walls used Taubmans All Weather, while the metal roof used Dulux Acratex Metal Roof Renew.
At St Clair, the tiled roof received one coat of Robertson’s roof primer followed by two coats of Robertson’s roof finish. The exterior paintwork received three coats of Dulux Weathershield. These are project-specific coating records, rather than a standard coat count for every home. Roof material, existing coating and condition need to be assessed separately from the walls.
Timber Fence Painting
Timber fence painting can form a separately defined part of an exterior painting quote.
We identify the fence runs, height, faces, posts and gates included, then assess the existing timber and finish before agreeing preparation and coatings. Access and protection of nearby paving, plants and other surfaces are part of planning the work.
Our Belonging Early Learning project in Hornsby included timber boundary fencing finished with Walpamur Fence Finish. The project gallery shows the fence before coating, during painting and in the completed outdoor setting. How often should I repaint my home's exterior?
The timing depends on the surface, existing coating, preparation and exposure to sun, rain or coastal air. Peeling, chalking, cracks and exposed timber are reasons to arrange an inspection rather than rely on a fixed repainting interval.
What happens in wet weather?
We plan around the forecast and the coating manufacturer’s requirements for surface condition, temperature and drying. Rain or damp surfaces may delay preparation or painting; we discuss any effect on the schedule with you.
What should an exterior painting quote include?
Confirm the walls, eaves, fascia, doors, window surrounds and other components included. The quote should identify preparation, repairs, paint products, access equipment and exclusions for the agreed scope.
Can peeling paint simply be painted over?
Loose paint and the cause of peeling need assessment before repainting. Preparation depends on the surface and existing finish. Recurring moisture or building defects may need to be addressed before a new coating is applied.
Can exterior house painting and roof painting be quoted together?
Yes. Our Stanmore and St Clair projects combined exterior paintwork with roof painting. We assess the walls and roof separately and identify the surfaces, preparation and coating systems in the agreed quote. The Stanmore metal roof and St Clair tiled roof used different products.
What affects the cost of painting a timber fence?
Fence length and height, one or both sides, gates and detailed timberwork, the existing finish, preparation and access all affect the scope. We assess those details before confirming a written price.
